NBA 2009 Season suprises Pt.1
It’s the end of October. The temperature is dropping, leaves are falling, the sky is getting darker and all of these lead to one conclusion, it’s time for another NBA season to start up. We all know Kobe will be “Kobe”, LeBron will be a man child, Tim Duncan will use the same boring moves that were created in the 50’s, and Rasheed will end up at least with 14 technical fouls, but what surprises are we in store for this 2009 season? Here are my top 10 surprises to keep an eye on this year.
10. Amir Johnson & Rodney Stuckey will be the keys that lead the Pistons back to the number 1 seed of the Eastern Conference. The insurgence of Amir Johnson’s young athletic ability into the Pistons solid starting lineup put together with more playing time for the emerging star Rod Stuckey should provide the the Pistons with a boost to climb back up the Eastern conference totem pole to the top.
9. J.R. Smith & Al Thornton will be the NBA’s Most Improved Players. J.R. Smith has always had the talent to be one of the most electrifying players in the league, but his immaturity has held him back. But looking on the way he finished last season (tied with Kobe Bryant in points per minutes ratio) he’s growing up very fast. Al Thornton was fourth in the 2008 Rookie of the Year voting, but in my eyes his potential and growth was second only to Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder. If his skill starts to grow to match talent would could be seeing an amazing breakout year.
8.The Nets will make the playoff spots
Call me crazy, but I believe the New Jersey Nets a will be a playoff contender when the season is ending in April. With a talented young guard in Devin Harris, a veteran all- star in Vince Carter, and an army of solid role player’s which include Bobby Simmons, Eduardo Najera, Keyon Dooling, and StromileSwift I believe this team could have a recipe for a surprise playoff run.
7. David Lee will make the eastern conference all- star team this season.
As being the one and only beloved Knick, David Lee has a lot of weight to put on his shoulders this year. Now that he is a starter and has a great offensive minded coach ( Mike D’Antoni) I believe his stats will soar him into stardom. He’s an athletic kid with a lot of heart, toughness, and passion which will make him a double-double machine this year.
Look out for pt. 2 coming very soon…..
